CIMA (The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) announces a restructuring of the organisation to shift more focus on employer relations and the needs of its customers internationally. This restructuring has exciting and important implications for CIMA’s future growth, as strong employer relationships are key to its success.
CIMA has done much over the last few years to build a strong infrastructure to deliver its services to customers more effectively, and has developed its qualification framework to better serve the needs of employers. CIMA intends to continue to improve operations and build innovation into its practices to further build on this success.
These changes will ensure that CIMA as an organisation is poised to achieve its mission to be the first choice qualification for accountants in business.
As part of the restructuring, CIMA announces the appointment of Rick Sturge as Director of Employer and Strategic Development. Sturge joins CIMA from Accenture, where he was a Business Development Director within the firm’s Business Process Outsourcing group. He will be responsible for CIMA’s employer development framework and student recruitment throughout the UK and internationally, working closely with Kathy Grimshaw, Director of International Development.
Ray Perry, Director of Brand, will have a broader remit that will focus on international marketing and communications. The current departments of Marketing and Communications will adopt an in-depth role driving marketing, communications and brand activity in CIMA’s chosen markets throughout the world.
Continuing to build on CIMA’s support of members, Robert Jelly, Director of Education, will now head up all departments that deal with Continuing Professional Development (CPD) products and conferences, and the Centre of Excellence, which develops products and research in collaboration with a leading UK university. Jelly will remain in charge of departments that support students through education, examinations and education partnerships.
Charles Tilley, Chief Executive of CIMA said, “I believe this reorganisation represents an important change to enable us to deliver the next stage of CIMA’s development in what is an increasingly competitive global environment. This environment needs an increased customer relationship focus, as well as clarity of purpose across the organisation.
This revised structure will facilitate that and provide us with an excellent platform to allow all of us to take CIMA forward on the next stage of our exciting journey – to make CIMA the first choice for employers.”
