Stuart Stevenson, a 30 year old Finance Manager at Morgan Stanley in Glasgow has been named the 3,000th Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) member in Scotland.
Gordon Grant, Deputy President of CIMA, who lives and works in Edinburgh says:
“Reaching the 3,000th mark in Scotland is a great achievement for CIMA and demonstrates the continuing high demand for qualified CIMA management accountants in business. At present we have 5566 members and students in Scotland, and of these 567 are working as CEOs, FDs or in financial management. With our unique sole focus on accountants in business, employers around the world increasingly look to CIMA as their preferred choice.”
Stuart, who has been at Morgan Stanley since 2001, is in the product control group with responsibility for daily reconciliation management across a book of products. Before joining Morgan Stanley, he worked for Shell, having graduated from the University of Glasgow in 1999.
On being named 3,000th member he commented: “I chose to study CIMA because I wanted a qualification that would provide a grounding in a number of key business skills and not just a focus on the financials. The skills I learnt whilst studying towards the CIMA qualification have proved helpful in a variety of ways, from managing people to project planning.”
