FAQs

I have become bankrupt/taken an IVA. How does this affect my CIMA status and what can I do?

Answer

Council Regulation 13 has been amended and now states that:

‘Members and Registered students are required to inform the Institute if they:

  • have been subject to a disciplinary sanction by another body or tribunal;
  • have been found guilty of an offence by any court;
  • have been made subject to a bankruptcy restrictions order or undertaking;
  • have entered into an individual voluntary arrangement with their creditors; or
  • have been disqualified from acting, or have given an undertaking not to act, as a director or trustee.’

This requirement does not threaten your ongoing association with CIMA, but it is important that you keep CIMA advised of your progress.

In any of these cases, you should put details of the situation into writing and email prof.standards@cimaglobal.com or forward it to:
