Additional reading time for Professional qualification exams
To help your chances of success in the exams, 20 minutes of reading time are added to the normal exam time for all 10 professional exam papers (all of the Managerial level papers, the Strategic level papers and the TOPCIMA exam).
During the 20 minutes you can:
- read the question paper
- annotate or highlight the question paper.
However you will not be allowed to:
- open the answer book
- write in the answer book
- add any loose sheets/supplements to your answer book; or
- use calculators.
Failure to comply with these rules will be considered as a serious breach of the exam regulations.
The written component for each exam remains at three hours.
How will it work on exam day?
For the morning exams you will be seated at 9am, start reading at 9.10am and start writing the exam at 9.30am. The exam finishes at 12.30pm.
For the afternoon exams you will be seated at 1.30pm, start reading at 1.40pm and start writing the exam at 2pm. The exam will finish at 5pm.
There may be some local variations in the times for non-UK centres.
For further guidance on how to use your additional 20 minutes' reading time, read this article (PDF 85KB) by Martin Taylor from our Financial Management magazine.
