Report leadership stakeholder group continues to gain momentum
06 July 2007
CIMA (the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) has joined forces with other Report Leadership stakeholders PricewaterhouseCoopers, Radley Yeldar and Tomkins plc to build upon its successful launch in November 2006 by today (6 July) launching a newsletter called 'Update - The Newsletter of Report Leadership'.
The group was initially set up to develop simple, practical ways to improve corporate and narrative reporting and culminated in the creation of an example report 'Generico'. The initiative was well received by the business and investment communities to the extent that The Hundred Group of finance directors supports the Report Leadership document as best practice and it has been embraced by the UK Shareholders' Association.
In the wake of its success, CIMA, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Radley Yeldar and Tomkins plc have continued their roll-out of the Report Leadership initiative by creating 'Update - The Newsletter of Report Leadership' which will be distributed to high level finance professionals, investors, analysts and other key groups involved in the corporate reporting process. The newsletter is accompanied by real-life examples of annual reports published over the last few months which have used similar ideas to those set out in the original publication. The dedicated website http://www.reportleadership.com provides more information.
A video cast highlighting the thoughts of each stakeholder group in relation to financial reporting has also been created to keep parties up-to-date with the group's ongoing work and commitment to the initiative. The video cast can be viewed at http://online-congress.edgesuite.net/pwc/uk/RL_vids/report_leadership.html.
Charles Tilley, Chief Executive at CIMA and spokesperson for the Report Leadership group, said:
“Report Leadership aims to promote practical illustrations of good practice in corporate reporting and it is encouraging to find that improvements in corporate and narrative reporting are being made by leading organisations. The Report Leadership newsletter aims to provide stakeholders with updates of the group’s work along with highlighting examples from actual annual reports.”
