Payment by Results: implications for acute trusts

25 November 2004

Following CIMA's response to radical proposals from the government to reform the way that money flows around the NHS, we have prepared a presentation for members and students working in the NHS on the short and longer term impact of the proposals on acute trusts.

Under Payment by Results, a main objective of finance professionals in the NHS will be to ensure that the proposals for modifying financial flows translate into a robust new structure. Some stakeholder groups, including non-executive directors, have not taken full stock of what Payment by Results means for the NHS. We hope that this presentation will be of value to non-finance people and help the job of NHS finance professionals in explaining the new funding regime to colleagues.
