New report from CIMA and HFMA

CIMA and the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) have produced a report that will help improve the quality of decision making by executive boards in the NHS.

Better performance reporting is a crucial part of high quality financial management processes in both the NHS and commercial sector. Poor performance feedback and reporting can lead to misguided decision making. As we have seen in the last month, this has affected some NHS Trust and Foundation Hospital star ratings.

We know from our recent survey of NHS organisations that the standard of reporting is patchy and with the help of this report, we hope can be improved in the following areas:

  • content and structure
  • presentation 
  • the process of compilation
