Global first for Dorset HealthCare NHS Trust Finance Department

12 December 2005

The Finance Department at Dorset HealthCare has achieved a global first with its latest accreditation as a CIMA Development Partner.

The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) has introduced a new employer accreditation scheme whereby the professional development processes of an organisation can be validated as meeting the Institute’s quality standards. Dorset HealthCare is the first organisation in the world to have undergone this accreditation and met the required standard.

Stuart Wayment, Deputy Director of Finance and Finance Staff development lead for the Trust, said,

“At Dorset HealthCare we are committed to the learning and development of all our staff and we recognise that to deliver the highest standards of clinical care, we need well developed and trained staff in support functions.  This latest accreditation is recognition that our development practices meet the needs of our staff which will enable them to maintain and develop their skills to meet those required for a career in NHS finance.”

Robert Jelly, Director of Education, CIMA, announcing their success, said,

“This is a great achievement for Dorset Healthcare and is testimony to CIMA's growing significance in not only training finance staff in the NHS but also in their life long career development.  We look forward to many more organisations across all sectors joining the CIMA Development scheme.”
