Harry Byrne, newly elected President of CIMA, the accountancy body focused on accountants in business, has today set out his priorities for the year ahead.
Speaking at CIMA’s Annual General Meeting, he said:
‘CIMA’s unique business perspective is pivotal to our continued success as the qualification of choice for accountants in business, across public and private sectors. Our priority over the next twelve months is to continue to develop our range of qualifications and support, to ensure that our members and students continue to add value to the strategic direction of businesses, to the highest professional standards.’
Commenting on the introduction of CIMA’s new Qualification Framework which was unveiled at the AGM, he said:
‘Employers will now benefit from the reassurance of the quality of the CIMA brand to deliver full service financial management training, from technician level through to post membership. This fully integrated, lifelong career support is reflective of the needs of employers, members and students.’
The new CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting and the CIMA Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting are two of the products in the new CIMA Qualification Framework.
Harry Byrne concluded:
‘Over the next twelve months CIMA will also be publishing several world class Technical Reports to add further value to the science of management accounting. These include ‘Accounting For Sustainable Profits’ and ‘Strategic Marketing Management’.
Harry Byrne FCMA FCCA spent most of his career within the Guinness Ireland Group rising to Assistant Managing Director in 1992. He is currently one of Ireland’s representatives on the Economic and Social Committee of the EU. He is also a Trustee of the Iveagh Trust, a Council Member of the Eye and Ear Hospital and a Director of the Foundation for Investing in Communities.
