Improving Student Performance

16 February 2005

1. READING TIME

Applicable to all 10 Professional papers - 20 minutes of reading time will be added to the normal examination time for all 10 professional examination papers.

During the 20 minutes students can:

  • read the question paper
  • annotate or highlight the question paper

However, students will not be allowed to:

  • open the answer book
  • start writing in the answer book
  • add any loose sheets / supplements to their answer book
  • use calculators

Failure to comply with these rules will be considered as a serious breach of the examination regulations.

The written component for each examination will remain at 3 hours’ duration.

2. TIME MANAGEMENT

Applicable to all 10 Professional papers. To assist students in managing time during examinations - with strong evidence that poor time management in past examinations has been a major detriment to success - indicative time allocations will be included at the beginning of each section of the examination paper.

3. QUESTION LAYOUT

Applicable to all 10 Professional papers. The REQUIREMENTS for questions in all 10 professional examination papers will be contained within a ‘box’. Students are strongly advised to read the requirements before reading the details of each question.

4. HOW WILL IT WORK ON THE DAY?
