| Financial reporting standards |Financial reporting has changed radically over the past ten years.
While the reliability and relevance of financial reports have improved, aspects of the reports are seen by many to be overly complex with core strategic information being buried.
CIMA's executive report, The financial reporting supply chain (PDF 386KB), gives finance directors a snapshot of their peers' opinions
on how financial reporting needs to move forward.
It is based upon a research project commissioned by the International Federation of Accountants (IFSC) and chaired by Norman Lyle, retired group finance director of Jardine Matheson in Hong Kong.
It also includes candid opinions of named financial leaders who attended a CIMA hosted round-table debate that was chaired by Charles Tilley, Chief Executive at CIMA.
'CIMA's report into the financial reporting supply chain offers a fascinating insight into what the leading stakeholders believe needs to happen within the realm of corporate reporting,' said Charles Tilley.
IFAC has launched a new project to analyse current actions to address the suitability of business reporting and to identify areas for future development. Charles has been invited to work on this project which will take the findings of IFAC's Financial reporting supply chain report to the next stage.
