CIMA/ACT offer pensions and cash management certificates

As a continuation of CIMA’s strong relationship with the Association of Corporate Treasurers (ACT), we are pleased to let you know about the upcoming certificates:
  • Certificate in Pensions Risk Management (Cert PRM)
  • Certificate in International Cash Management (Cert ICM).

These are designed to aid you in your professional development.
The PRM Certificate is a practical qualification for financial managers covering the legislative and financial framework surrounding pensions.

Benefits for CIMA members and students

Cert PRM will equip you with a fundamental understanding of the legislative and regulatory framework surrounding pensions. This includes the role of trustees, risk management implications and associated governance issues. The certificate will enable you to understand, analyse and manage the risks associated with company pension funds. It explores the impact of the pension fund on the cost of capital, therefore helping you to manage the financial assets of the business and address funding requirements.

Topics include:
  • the UK pensions framework
  • types of company pension, and
  • pension risk exposures.

Another benefit of studying Cert PRM is that on completion you are eligible for PRM Affiliate status.

The Cert PRM enrolment deadlines are 30 November 2006 for April 2007 examinations and 31 May 2007 for October 2007 examinations.

The Cert PRM Course fees are as follows:
Correspondence and Seminar course: £1090 + VAT with postage and packing cost where applicable
Revision: £510 + VAT with postage and packing cost where applicable.

Members can find full details of the syllabus and requirements as well as where to get application forms within the CPD Centre.

ICM Certificate

The ICM Certificate will give you the skills to solve more complex cash management issues. It will also make you aware of tax and regulatory issues and solutions that apply internationally.

Benefits for CIMA members and students

The Cert in International Cash Management is the only qualification to focus exclusively on global cash management. It has been developed to assist understanding for both banks and corporations in Europe, Asia and the United States. It covers topics such as liquidity management, international payment systems, short term investments and borrowing and foreign exchange.

Another benefit of studying Cert ICM is that on completion you are eligible for ICM Affiliate status. It is designed to facilitate interaction between individuals who have taken the Cert ICM qualification. ICM Affiliates can access the dedicated newsletter, e-learning website and the ICM Affiliates directory.

The Cert ICM enrolment deadlines are 31 March 2007 for October 2007 examinations.

The Cert ICM course fees are £2800 + VAT with postage and packing cost where applicable.

Members can find full details of the syllabus and requirements as well as where to get application forms within the CPD Centre.

FastTrack ACT

CIMA and the ACT have developed a FastTrack course of study for CIMA members and students who wish to study for Associate (in full) Membership (AMCT).

There are two levels of papers in the AMCT syllabus - Foundation Papers, which provide core understanding of treasury, law and accountancy principles and Associate Papers, which build a deeper understanding in the areas of treasury, risk and corporate finance.

Benefits for CIMA members and students:

FastTrack candidates receive exemptions from all the Foundation Papers and only need to complete three papers at the Associate Paper level to complete the AMCT. They are also eligible to take the Corporate Finance and Funding FastTrack paper which is written exclusively for FastTrack candidates. This paper is equivalent to half of the standard Corporate Finance and Funding paper. Candidates who take the Corporate Finance and Funding FastTrack paper only need to sit two further papers to complete the AMCT, reducing the overall study to just two and a half papers.

Although it is not compulsory to take the FastTrack paper it is strongly advised that CIMA Members and Students choose a combination that includes the FastTrack paper as this reduces the study requirement for the AMCT.

The ACMT enrolment deadlines are 30 November 2006 for April 2007 examinations and 31 May 2007 for October 2007 examinations.

Students and members can find full details of where to find information on course costs, the syllabus and requirements as well as where to get application forms within the CPD Centre.
